October 2016 IPMS Ottawa Contest

These are the entries to the IPMS Ottawa, October 2016, monthly contest.

1st Place Winner -Nazi German U-47 Type VII U-Boot with scratch built interior. Battle of the Atlantic. Revell 1:100 scale.

Second Place Winner - P-47D flown by Lt Kibble, 56th GS, 61st FS, Halesworth UK, March 1944. OOB Academy 1:48 scale.


Third Place Winner - RCAF CP-122 P2V Neptune ASW maritime patrol aircraft. OOB Hasegawa 1:72 scale.

Morris Mini - splendour in the grass. Tamiya, 1:24 scale.

IJN mini-submarine as used in Pearl Harbour, 1941. added brass wire and chain and rigging. Finemolds, 1:72 scale.

"Anything British" September 2016 IPMS Ottawa Contest

These are the entries to IPMS Ottawa's annual "Anything British" contest in September 2016.
The winner was awarded the Cody Tree Trophy sponsored by our sister club IPMS Farnborough in England.


IPMS Farnborough sponsored the CODY TREE TROPHY for IPMS Ottawa's annual 'All Things British' contest. The tree is said to be the one used for engine tests where an aircraft was tied to the tree and the engine run at maximum power.
First Place, and Cody Tree Trophy winner - Wessex HAS-2 helicopter in Royal Navy colours. 1:48 scale from Italeri.

2nd Place winner - "1804 Steam Locomotive", sometimes known as the Trevithick or the Coalbrookdale Locomotive or the Pen-y-Darren Locomotive. 1:24 scale from  Airfix / Hornby  (kit #A05871),  by John Clearwater.

3rd Place winner, Wessex HU-5 helicopter in RAF colours from RAF Odiham. 1:72 scale by Italeri.

August 2016 IPMS Ottawa Contest

These are the entries to the IPMS Ottawa, August 2016, monthly contest.

1st Place Winner - 1:72 scale Revell kit of Nazi German S100 Schnelboot.
This was a superb work and won by a total sweep of the votes.


2nd Place Winner - SPACE ARK from World of the Worlds, by Pegasus Hobby in 1:350 scale. This was a weekend build in conjunction with IPMS Canberra. The body is done in polished aluminium by Alclad.

3rd Place Winner - Bristol Blenheim IV on floats in 1:72 scale by airfix.

"Canada Day" July 2016 IPMS Ottawa Contest

These are the entries to the IPMS Ottawa, "Canada Day" theme, July 2016, monthly contest.

1st Place Winner - CS2F-2 Tracker in RCN colours. Hasegawa 1/72 scale kit. The aircraft crashed on takeoff from the aircraft carrier HMSC Bonaventure on 16 February 1969 killing all three crew.

2nd Place Winner - Canadian Army Leopard 2A6M main battle tank with protective screens as deployed in Afghanistan. Hobby Boss 1/35 scale kit #82458.

3rd Place Winner - LCdr Montgomery Scott figure from Star Trek TV series. Ertl 1/6 scale kit. The actor who played Scottie was a decorated Canadian artillery soldier who was on Juno Beach at D-Day.

DH-100 Vampire FB5, in RCAF 421 Sqdn markings, and an experimental use of the new water-based Vallejo metalic paints. Cyber-Hobby 1/72 scale kit #5085.
