July 2018 CANADA DAY Contest at IPMS Ottawa

Happy Canada Day to all plastic model builders around the world. Despite 35 degree heat and choking humidity, we had 40 members at the meeting and a superb collection of 15 kits in competition and five works in progress.


FIRST PLACE
A superb 1:32 scale WingNuts Bristol Fighter F2B, as flown by Andrew Edward McKeever, the highest scoring two seater fighter pilot in the RFC and RAF in the Great War.












SECOND PLACE
A Trumpeter 1:35 scale LAV III as it appeared in Kandahar Afghanistan in 2009.

THIRD PLACE
The last version of the Iroquois-class DDH 280 destroyer, HMCS Iroquois, as it appeared in about 2001. Resin Shipyards, 1:350 scale.










OTHER ENTRIES


1:35  Revell,  105mm C1 howitzer at the NATO annual FALLEX 64 exercises in Germany, where a Royal Regiment of Canadian Artillery unit is live firing on the range under a basic camouflage netting. Model by John Clearwater.
