FINISHED MODELS
A2N3 (AB&K 1:48)
This is finished using Tamiya lacquer for the gloss aluminum and a mix of Tamiya acrylics for the red. Despite a simple cockpit that can't be seen, it is a nicely detailed model and a relatively straightforward build for those biplane vets. However, it took me a while to get that top wing right! As for Covid - This kit came all the way from the manufacturer in eastern Europe late this spring and arrived in perfect packaging and a well protected box. If there was a delay due to Covid, I didn't notice it. This is my 7th completion since Covid has come into all our lives uninvited. While I like working on and completing models, I can certainly do without Covid. I miss going to the IPMS meetings, hearing the banter and seeing the models. I am hoping we can resume someday soon. Stay safe everyone and keep washing those hands.

1987 Pontiac 2+2 NASCAR stock car (JR Salvino 1:24)
This is the #43 Pontiac as driven by Richard Petty during the 1986-87 racing seasons. The 2+2 was a revision to the existing Pontiac Grand Prix, adding a slanted nose and fastback rear window to the existing design. While the design appeared sleeker than the old model, it wasn't quite as successful as the Fords and Chevrolets of the same era. While not a winning car, it did provide Petty with his last competitive races prior to his retirement in 1992.
The kit is manufactured by JR Salvino's, and features a newly tooled body and glass over an existing Monogram-tooled GM stock car chassis. The model is mostly out of the box, although I did make some modifications to the wheels (valve stems, opening the vents for a see-through appearance). The paint is Tamiya lacquer, and features kit decals.

Messerschmidt ME-263 (1:48 HR Model)
Challenging little resin kit of the intended replacement for the ME 163 Komet which included a more stable fuel mixture that was adjustable between 2 separate rocket engines, one smaller for cruising and the other for full-on like an afterburner (in order to have a longer flight duration) and retractable landing gear for safer landings. Was never used in combat.

FOKKER Dr.1-5 FUNFDECKER (Revell)
This is the very strange 1971 kit of the cartoon Fokker Funfdecker as used by "The Baron" in his quest to shoot down "ZE ENEMY ACE K-9, GECOMIN’ OBER DAS ENGLISHER CHANNEL", re-issued in 2016. To avoid copyright infringement the box art does not show Snoopy's face, and Snoopy is only referred to as "ze enemy ace K-9". Note the doghouse kill markings on the fuselage.
It is a quick and easy one week build and is remarkably well engineered. However, Revell needs to stop ever using that brittle red plastic. Paint is Tamiya gloss red acrylic. I discarded the Hemi engine and went with the radial engine only. I added spark plug wiring. I also wrapped actual fabric bandage material around the tyre and painted on the Luftwaffel logo. Decals needed a lot of solvent to sit on the compound curved upper wing. It was a fun Covid-19 project and gave me a lot of practice painting flesh tones on a large face.

Belladonna, Bounty Hunter (Forge World 30mm)
I wanted a quick project to get my mojo going, and this small and ridiculously expensive resin model from Forge World in my stash was just what I needed.
Description from the Forge World website: "As the ancient saying goes ‘don’t mess with a woman wronged’, and Belladonna has been oh so wronged! The noble bounty huntress is one of the seven daughters of Orlena Escher – matriarch of the Seven Spire Killer Cult – and once one of the most feared assassins in the Palatine Custer. She stalks the underhive as a Bounty Hunter for hire, seeking her husband’s killers and the identity of the mysterious faction that sundered the alliance of Escher and Ran Lo before the ink was even dry on the marriage contract."
Zenithal primed with the airbrush, then painted completely by brush with various acrylic paints (mostly Reaper MSP and P3). I stayed fairly close to the studio scheme, with a few variations. Metallics were done last, after the varnish, so the varnish wouldn't affect the shine. I mixed Vallejo Metal Color acrylic metallic paints with acrylic artist inks to get deep black shadows and an interesting purple tint in the midtones of the silver metals.

Haro (Bandai)
This was my entry into the Gunpla Ottawa Haro-ween contest. This contest was sponsored by Trinity Hobby, a new online hobby store based in Ottawa with local pickup, where I got the kit from. The theme of the contest was to customize a Haro, the little helper robot from the Gundam series, with a Halloween theme. I chose to do Haro Voorhees -- scratchbuilding a machete, and painting a hockey mask on the front.

Krupp A7V Tank (Meng 1:35)
The A7V was a heavy tank introduced by Germany in 1918 during World War I. One hundred chassis were ordered in early 1917, ten to be finished as fighting vehicles with armoured bodies, and the remainder as Überlandwagen cargo carriers. The number to be armoured was later increased to 20. They were used in action from March to October 1918, and were the only tanks produced by Germany in World War I to be used in combat.
Metal gun barrel upgrade set: 57mm Maxim-Nordenfelt QF gun, 7,92mm Maxim MG-08 machine gun from ABER 35L-164.
Paint used: AK Interactive paint , Vallejo and Tamiya.

Mosquito Mk 4
Ok, a few words about the Mosquito Mk4 build. I recently installed the nose section and quickly realized that you cannot put the halves together before you attach it to the front portion of the model. The halves must be installed separately. Also I had previously installed the hardpoints in the bomb bay but then decided to do the Recon version instead. So out came the hardpoints and in goes the camera. Ya cant have both folks. Either one or the other. Besides the Recon version is all one color. Keeping it simple. Any way it's been slow going but i hope to finish it soon. I also recently picked a 1:72 Mk 1 spit. This one will be recon as well. PR blue as well. Happy Modeling.
2K12 "Kube" (1:35 Trumpeter)
The Soviet 2K12 "Kube" ("Куб" cube) mobile low to medium-level surface-to-air missile system designed to protect ground forces from NATO air attack. It was used in 1973 to destroy about 40 Israeli aircraft.
